Neps are knotted or tangled cotton fibers, a problem that is regularly encountered during cotton harvesting and production. Any cotton bales when collected and produced will also have mechanical Nep or biological Nep phenomenon, which are:

Mechanical Nep phenomenon: as the most common occurred, they are generated mechanically during the harvesting and cleaning process, without much impact on the quality of the finished cotton yarn.

Biological Neps phenomenon: as an extremely serious occurrence, they consist of a group of unripe cotton fibers or cotton fibers that are tied together by irrelevant material such as seed pods, leaves, or stems, affecting the quality of the finished cotton yarn. 

In the regular cotton production process, Neps are a bad phenomenon, heavily affecting the quality of yarn and fabric. Production process of Nep Cotton yarn.

The following is a fundamental process to make Nep Cotton yarn:

1. Selection of input materials: Choose to only buy OEKO-TEX certified raw materials. Cotton after being harvested will be put into a system of shredding and cleaning machines to remove organic impurities and foreign fibers which are blended among cotton fibers.

2. Raw processing input: Continue through the carding, combing machine system to clean and arrange the fibers to prepare for the spinning stage.

3. Dyeing fiber: The fibers are processed in the dyeing factory, to dye the custom color by Top Dyeing technology.

4. Spinning: Dyed fibers are spun into yarn from spinning technologies, and with different parameters: 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s,…… depending on the requirements of the order. During the spinning process, Nep cottonseed patterns will be sprayed into fibers, with various technologies.
