Bamboo Biocell Yarn is increasingly demonstrating its user-friendly advantages and everyday practicality. Textile and fashion companies are continuously innovating with bamboo yarn, helping to expand the ecosystem of bamboo yarn products.
Since late 2021, Greenyarn has launched its Bamboo Biocell yarn, entirely produced in Vietnam. Compared to common bamboo yarns, Bamboo Biocell boasts several outstanding advantages that have made both its yarn and fabric products warmly welcomed by export manufacturing businesses as well as domestic fashion brands.
Pioneering the distribution of bamboo yarn in Vietnam since 2019, Bảo Lân Textile recognized that most of the bamboo yarns marketed as eco-friendly were made from bamboo with unclear origins, produced using technologies that harm both the environment and user health.
Bamboo Biocell was developed during a time when the global textile industry faced disruption due to the impact of the Covid pandemic. It is the first bamboo yarn produced in Vietnam with strict process control, from the origin of bamboo fibers to the yarn production, weaving, and dyeing technologies.
It is also the only Bamboo yarn made in Vietnam that is transparent about its origin, providing a Certificate of Origin (CO) and a genuine Green commitment, ensuring it is truly eco-friendly and safe.
One of the outstanding values that Bamboo Biocell brings to customers is the product origin tag, which provides detailed information about the yarn’s source. This information tag is especially important for export textile products, in addition to the Certificate of Origin (CO), as it allows businesses to benefit from import tax exemptions and quotas in the context of many countries opening their doors to Vietnam.
Moreover, since Bamboo Biocell yarn is produced entirely in Vietnam and follows global sustainability standards such as GRS and GOTS, it has a significant advantage in terms of supply chain control, volume management, and meeting customer requirements regarding yarn specifications and combinations of materials.
The vast, pristine bamboo forests of Sichuan, covering 12,000 hectares (120 km²) across 27 mountain peaks, are home to some of the highest cellulose-containing bamboo species in the world. Known as Shun Nan Bamboo Sea, this area provides the best quality bamboo pulp and bamboo yarn, including Bamboo Biocell, which is used to produce premium bamboo yarn.
Because the Sichuan bamboo forests are also a major biosphere reserve in China, the bamboo harvests here are strictly regulated to ensure balance and environmental sustainability. This ensures that the bamboo extraction process does not harm the natural environment or require large areas of land to be cleared for new plantations, avoiding wasteful use of land resources.
In addition to the traceability of the raw materials, an important factor that helps Bamboo Biocell yarn meet green standards is the use of the Close-loop system technology. This method recycles 98% of the chemicals in the yarn production process, utilizing a closed-loop model that minimizes waste and reduces environmental impact.
The Close-loop system technology has been proven to use fewer chemicals, resulting in stronger, more durable yarn that is of higher quality. Importantly, this process ensures that the health of both workers and end users is not compromised.
Due to the production process that does not involve chemicals in the yarn treatment, Bamboo Biocell yarn retains almost all of the natural properties of bamboo, such as:
+ Odor control, antibacterial properties, safe for sensitive skin, and moisture absorption.
+ Excellent temperature regulation, keeping it cool in summer and warm in winter.
+ Speeds up moisture absorption and evaporation, keeping the surface breathable.
+ Dries faster, sheds less, and remains soft after multiple washes and uses.
Moreover, Bảo Lân is a pioneer in researching, developing, and applying new features to make Bamboo Biocell yarn more useful for consumers and environmentally friendly. Through the Greenyarn brand, Bảo Lân has added new properties to Bamboo Biocell, such as UV protection (reflecting UV rays).
The UV protection of Bamboo Biocell yarn has been certified by the Textile Research Institute with a UPF 50+ rating, providing 98% protection from harmful UVA and UVB rays, which helps protect the skin from damage like skin cancer, sunburn, and premature aging.
In the textile industry, the most reliable and widely recognized ecological label is the Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 certification, which confirms the product is safe for consumer health.
To fully meet the environmental-friendly production standards, Bảo Lân has added two other important certifications to the Bamboo Biocell yarn:
+ GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) – the leading international standard for organic textiles.
+ GRS (Global Recycle Standard) – a global recycling standard.
Thanks to this combination, Bảo Lân’s Bamboo Biocell yarn not only meets safety criteria but also serves as a symbol of “Green Fashion,” emphasizing a commitment to sustainable production and environmental protection.
With the advantage of being fully produced domestically, Bảo Lân’s Bamboo Biocell yarn significantly reduces carbon emissions and optimizes logistics costs. This is a major advantage compared to imported eco yarns, which are heavily impacted by shipping costs and import taxes.
In particular, Bamboo Biocell is more affordable than other natural yarns, such as Tencel from eucalyptus wood or premium Supima cotton, making bamboo yarn products more accessible to the majority of consumers in Vietnam.
This not only provides affordable green fashion options but also helps consumers experience eco-friendly and health-conscious products, in line with the growing trend of sustainable consumption.
To meet the diverse needs of the market, Bamboo Biocell yarn is also combined with other materials, such as organic cotton and recycled yarns, to create knitted fabrics (jersey), woven fabrics (khaki, shirts, denim, etc.).
Bamboo yarn products are widely used in essential fashion items, including t-shirts, shirts, underwear, children’s clothing, and home care products like blankets, bed sheets, and pillow covers.
Notably, Greenyarn has partnered with the Lãnh Mỹ A silk brand to launch a premium Bamboo Silk line, promising a soft, durable, and environmentally friendly fabric experience for consumers.
As consumers increasingly demand sustainability and transparency from the textile industry, Bamboo Biocell yarn has emerged as a standout option, meeting the need for high-quality bamboo yarn at a stable price point.
Produced entirely in Vietnam, Bamboo Biocell not only helps domestic and international businesses diversify their bamboo yarn supply but also demonstrates Greenyarn’s strong commitment to building a sustainable, transparent ecosystem from source to product.
